You Gotta Serve Somebody
Singer and songwriter Bob Dylan wrote “Gotta Serve Somebody” in 1979. In the chorus, he stated, “It might be the devil or it may be the Lord, but you’re gonna have to serve somebody.“ When individuals come to faith in Christ Jesus, that part of their humanity that is created to serve is released from the bondage of sin and freed to serve Almighty God. Have you given any thought recently to whom or what you are serving? Have you considered where you have set the first allegiance of your heart and mind? Commit, as Joshua did in today’s verse, to serve the Lord. Jesus said, “Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls“ (Matthew 11:29). As you seek to please and obey the Lord, be assured that you will receive His guidance, compassion, peace, and love.
